Best Ways U4N Can Approach Skovos Exploration in Diablo 4 (13 อ่าน)

The Skovos region gives completion-focused players plenty to discover, but finishing its exploration achievement has become more complicated than expected. The Skovos Sojourner achievement was affected by an early map-counting problem, leaving some characters unable to unlock it even after every available area had been explored. While Diablo 4 Gold can be useful for regular character progression, it has no impact on this particular achievement because the problem is connected to exploration tracking.

How the Skovos Counting Error Happened

When Skovos Sojourner first became available with the Lord of Hatred expansion, players were asked to discover 67 areas. The actual Skovos map, however, contained only 65 areas that could be counted correctly.

That difference created an impossible completion target. Players could reveal the entire region and still remain short of the required number. Reaching 65/67 therefore did not necessarily indicate that a player had missed two hidden locations. Instead, the original achievement requirement itself was higher than the number of valid areas available.

The issue affected players who were trying to complete every exploration objective and made the achievement particularly frustrating for anyone who had already finished the region.

The Patch That Changed the Requirement

A later update corrected the achievement requirement to 65/65. This adjustment matched the actual number of discoverable areas and removed the impossible 67-area target for future progress.

However, the change did not fully restore achievement progress for characters that had already reached the maximum exploration count. The important detail is that the system appears to depend on a new exploration event rather than simply checking the current total.

For an affected character, reaching 65/65 before the correction could leave the achievement locked. Although the map now displays the correct maximum, the game may not recognize the previous completion as the event needed to award the achievement.

Why Revisiting Skovos Does Not Usually Work

It can be tempting to retrace every road and landmark after discovering that the achievement remains locked. Unfortunately, returning to previously revealed locations generally does not create another discovery event.

The game already knows those areas have been explored, so passing through them again does not normally increase the counter. This means that repeatedly searching the same map with the original character is unlikely to solve a tracking problem caused by historical progress.

The workaround instead focuses on creating a completely new sequence of exploration progress.

Creating a Separate Exploration Progression

Exploration and Renown data are separated between Softcore and Hardcore characters. This provides a possible way to reproduce the missing progression step without altering the completed map on the original character.

Players whose original Skovos exploration was completed in Softcore can create an Eternal Hardcore character and begin exploring the region again. The important part is to avoid completing the entire map immediately.

Travel through Skovos methodically and uncover locations until the new character reaches 64/65. At that stage, leave one valid area unexplored. The final location can then potentially generate the fresh progression event needed to trigger the achievement.

Locations That May Require Extra Progress

The final unexplored area is not always obvious, particularly because some Skovos locations can be associated with campaign or endgame progression.

The Pools of Creation, located north of Atanos Island, is one notable location to keep in mind. Access may require advancing through the campaign before the area becomes available. A new character may therefore need to progress through the story before attempting to finish the final exploration step.

Late-game areas around the highest-level Capstone Dungeon are another possibility. If the counter remains at 64/65 after most of the region has been uncovered, restricted locations connected to endgame content deserve additional attention.

Triggering the Final Discovery

Once the counter reaches 64/65, approach the remaining unexplored area and allow the map to register it naturally. The critical moment is when the counter changes from 64/65 to 65/65.

After the number updates, remain in the area briefly and give the achievement system time to process the new discovery. If the workaround succeeds, Skovos Sojourner should unlock after the final exploration event is registered.

The same general approach can potentially work across Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, although the outcome may depend on the account's previous exploration history.

A Useful Option for Completionists

This method should be considered a temporary workaround rather than a replacement for an official fix. The root problem is the lack of proper retroactive recognition, so a future update could eventually allow previously completed exploration to count automatically.

Until that happens, creating a separate progression track and deliberately reproducing the 64/65-to-65/65 transition gives affected completionists a practical alternative. Players can continue improving their characters and exploring Diablo IV Items for other progression goals, but equipment itself will not repair the Skovos achievement tracking issue.
